Issue # 723
Spring Promotions are in the Air While it may not seem like it to those in the northern parts of the US, spring is just around the corner. In fact, it’s less than 30 days away, leaping upon us on March 20th. The Super Bowl and Presidents Day are behind us. Next up is springtime, which means Easter, kids’ sporting events, family activities, lawn and garden, beach time, the end of another school year, and planning for summer vacations. Regardless if you live in the cold and frozen north or the sun-blanketed south, we think of springtime as a time to plant and sew our seeds. However, in retail and many service-related business categories, springtime is the time to harvest! It’s also time for many special events, promotions, and open houses. There is no question that repeat customers, those that buy from you time and time again, are the backbone of nearly every business. The question is, how do you get them to be your customer in the first place? A good place to start is special events or promotions. A study from Demand Metrics of over 200 businesses reported that 47% of the respondents said that 25% or more of their new customers were generated by either hosting or participating in event marketing. One of the most effective ways to generate those face-to-face encounters with your prospects and customers is to facilitate and promote special events where they can experience your products and build relationships with you and your staff. Special events from open houses, new product introductions, manufacture rep demonstrations, and invitation-only/preferred-customer events can generate more new customers and enhance your brand image. Yes, events take some extra work, but if executed correctly, your business will reap the rewards in more ways than one. Depending upon how your employees are compensated, it can mean extra income for them. In addition, promotions can be fun for everyone.
