Just Smile and Be Happy!
Is it just me, or do people not smile nearly as much as they used to?
Smiling is ALWAYS appropriate, regardless of the type of business: bank, dentist’s office, car wash, hardware store, restaurant, grocery store, feed and seed store, manufacturing plant, or even a funeral home. Yes, even a funeral home! You name the category. Smiling is not only appropriate and makes it a better place to work, but it will help them grow their business as well.
A simple smile can uplift everything and everyone!
Smiling is not only good for the person smiling, but it also has a powerful impact on the person receiving the smile. In fact, smiling not only makes you happier, but it also makes us healthier too!
Do you smile because you are happy, or are you happy because you smile?
Studies have proven that a simple smile, genuine or even forced, can trigger the release of neuropeptides that improve your neural communication, as well as neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, which can boost your mood.
The benefits of smiling are enormous. It helps us stay positive, suggests success, makes us more attractive, reduces pain, lowers blood pressure and stress, elevates our mood, boosts our immune system, and studies have even shown that people who smile are ultimately happier and live longer!
From a business standpoint, the important question is, do your employees smile? Have you ever suggested they smile?
Nearly all forms of employment or work have some level of stress, certainly some more than others. It’s up to management and leadership to provide a culture and atmosphere where it’s easy to smile.
The antidote to forcing your employees to smile is giving them a reason to smile! Study after study has proven that happy employees sell more, and happy customers buy! Customers, when greeted and treated by a smiling happy employee, can and will purchase up to 40% more.
The great thing about smiling is that it costs no one anything! Smiles are free and the samples you and your employees provide are downright contagious!
